Trisha Webb Meets Chris Ferguson at WSOP 2007
Trisha Webb Meets Chris Ferguson at WSOP 2007
My husband Barry made the big mistake of teaching me how to play poker in 2005, and I have never looked back! Poker plays a major role in our lives now, as we play with the American Rounders poker league in the Nashville area. I've won those tournaments 15 times since Fall 2006. One of us usually always makes the final table as well. I used to play 5-6 nights a week but do not play as many nights live anymore as being in the smoky environment wreaked havoc on my health, so I play at the non-smoking venues only now with the exception of the "big tournament" held periodically throughout the year.

Most nights and on the weekend I play online. I usually play the nightly Razz or Full Tilt and sometimes will play their nightly H.O.R.S.E. tourney as well. I also play on Ultimate Bet in one of their nightly NLH tournaments which has one of the best blind and payout structures for a low-limit tournament that I have found online. In addition to these tournaments, I play low/mid-limit sit-n-gos in limit and NLH Hold'em, as well as ring games in Hold'em, Razz, or any of the H.O.R.S.E. games, depending on the website.

To date the most exciting time was when I finished “in the money” at the 2007 Ladies World Championship event of the World Series of Poker. The tournament set a new record with 1,286 participants, with prize money paid to the top 99 players. Participating in my very first WSOP event, I finished in 83rd place! I also participated in the Seven Card Razz event. I won that event’s entry fee by winning an online Razz Tournament on Full Tilt. While I did not finish there as well as in the Ladies event, I was honored to sit with multiple WSOP event winners Ted Forrest and Humberto Brenes (winning hands from them both), and outlasted several pros including Doyle Brunson, Eli Elezra, and Dutch Boyd. I am already planning on returning in 2008 to play the Razz tournament again.

In 2008 I again played the Ladies and Razz events at the World Series of Poker. While I did not cash this year I made it to my first Day Two in the Razz Event. I was 25th out of 104 players left from the original 453 entering Day Two, outlasting most pros including Ted Forrest, Chris Ferguson, Doyle and Todd Brunson and last year's champ Katja Thater. I finished in 80th place, the next to last woman left (Vanessa Rousso finished 15 minutes after me). My plans for WSOP 2009 are to again play Razz (since I love it so!) but this time play an "open" Hold'em event rather than the Ladies as any other event gives you more starting chips but the same blind structure.
